WRINKLES & FINE LINES

Fine lines are caused by a combination of factors including sun damage, general ageing, smoking, stress as well poor diet.

Ageing is an uncontrollable factor where our skin naturally becomes less elastic and more fragile due to loss of collagen and elastin which is part of the natural ageing process. While we are born with an abundance of collagen, from our mid-late 20s this starts to slow and gradually decreases so our skin starts to look less plump and show signs of aging. Fat in the deeper layers of the skin starts to diminish causing sagging, loose skin and fine lines and wrinkles.

Other factors that cause fine lines and wrinkles can include exposure to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays, smoking and repeated facial expressions.

If fine lines are left untreated, they can become deep and permanent and can contribute to looking more tired and aged.
